The Best Babymoon Destinations for a Relaxing Getaway
A babymoon is such a special opportunity to spend quality time together before your baby arrives. And while there are plenty of incredible destinations around the world, I think the ideal babymoon is a little different from a typical vacation.
Instead of planning packed sightseeing days, early morning excursions, or constantly moving between hotels, this is the perfect time to slow down. Think beautiful resorts, relaxing pool days, great restaurants, comfortable accommodations, and maybe a few easy activities when you feel up to it.
Here are some of the dreamiest destinations to consider for a babymoon.
St. Lucia
If you love tropical destinations with dramatic scenery, St. Lucia is a beautiful option to research.
The island's iconic Pitons, lush landscapes, and luxury resorts make it feel incredibly romantic.
Resorts like Sugar Beach offer beautiful surroundings where you could easily spend most of your vacation relaxing.
One thing I would consider carefully is transportation. St. Lucia has mountainous roads, and some hotels require longer drives from the airport or major attractions.
For a babymoon, I'd prioritize a resort where you can comfortably spend several days without needing to leave.
My husband and I are staying at Sugar Beach for our babymoon and we are so excited!
French Polynesia
French Polynesia is a dream destination for a romantic escape.
Bora Bora, Moorea, and Taha'a offer stunning water, beautiful resorts, and peaceful surroundings.
An overwater bungalow or luxurious beachfront villa can make the hotel itself the highlight of your trip.
The biggest consideration is the journey, especially if you're traveling from the East Coast.
Between long flights and possible island transfers, you'll want to make sure the travel time feels manageable and discuss the destination's health considerations with your healthcare provider.
Turks & Caicos
If your dream babymoon involves beautiful beaches, Turks & Caicos is definitely worth researching.
Grace Bay is known for its soft white sand and gorgeous turquoise water.
There are plenty of luxury resorts where you can enjoy the beach, have a nice dinner, and keep your daily schedule incredibly simple.
This is the kind of trip where you don't need to plan much to have a wonderful time.
Antigua
Antigua is another great destination for couples who want a Caribbean escape.
The island has numerous beaches and beautiful resort options, including smaller romantic properties.
For a babymoon, I'd look for a resort with comfortable beach access, good restaurants, and enough amenities to enjoy several days without leaving.
Aruba
Aruba is appealing for travelers who want beach days, restaurants, and a relatively easy resort-focused vacation.
Many hotels are situated near popular beaches, making it convenient to spend your days swimming, relaxing, and heading out for dinner.
I especially like the idea of choosing somewhere where everything you need is within a short distance.
The Bahamas
The Bahamas can be a wonderful option for a shorter babymoon, especially when traveling from the East Coast.
There are plenty of beautiful resorts to choose from, whether you want a large property with several restaurants or something more intimate.
If relaxation is the goal, I'd choose a resort with great dining and a beautiful beach rather than trying to fit several islands into one trip.
Bermuda
Bermuda is one of my favorite destinations to consider for a shorter trip from New York.
It's relatively close, has beautiful coastal scenery, and offers lovely resorts and restaurants.
Unlike some tropical islands, Bermuda isn't warm enough for a traditional beach vacation year-round, so it's important to choose your dates carefully.
For a spring, summer, or early fall getaway, it can be a particularly appealing option.
Anguilla
Anguilla is known for beautiful beaches, luxury accommodations, and a quieter atmosphere.
It's an ideal destination to research if you want a peaceful vacation focused on beach days and good food.
I'd recommend looking closely at how to reach your hotel, since getting to Anguilla can involve an additional flight or ferry transfer depending on your route.
Grand Cayman
Grand Cayman is another destination worth considering for a relaxed Caribbean vacation.
Seven Mile Beach is lined with beautiful resorts, and the island is known for its excellent restaurant scene.
If you love having dinner reservations and restaurant options without needing to travel long distances, Grand Cayman may be a good fit.
What to Consider Before Booking a Babymoon
One of the biggest things I'd recommend is thinking about how the trip will actually feel.
A hotel might be absolutely gorgeous, but if reaching it requires multiple flights, a boat transfer, and a long drive, it might not be the relaxing vacation you're picturing.
I would prioritize comfortable travel, easy airport transportation, convenient restaurants, and a resort with plenty to enjoy on property.
It's also important to check airline policies, travel insurance coverage, local medical access, and destination-specific health advisories. Some tropical destinations have mosquito-borne disease risks that can make them unsuitable during pregnancy, regardless of how relaxing the resort looks. Always review current CDC guidance and discuss your specific plans with your prenatal healthcare provider before booking.
My biggest babymoon recommendation? Choose somewhere you can genuinely enjoy doing nothing.
You don't need a packed itinerary to make the trip memorable. Sometimes the best vacation is simply spending time together, enjoying beautiful surroundings, and relaxing before life gets busier after your little one arrives!
